Main focus of the ENNHRI’S General Assembly – Ukraine and the people fleeing the war
On 31 March 2022, Erika Leonaitė, Head of the Seimas Ombudspersons’ Office participated in the General Assembly of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), which focused on the situation in Ukraine and war refugees of Ukraine. Lyudmila Denisova (Людмила Денісова), the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and her detailed report on Russia’s systematic gross violations of the international humanitarian law have received widespread support. The ombudsmen from different countries emphasized that the aggression perpetrated by Russia not only cause great human suffering, but also brutally infringe the right of the Ukrainian people to self-determination.
